How to Participate with the Bavarian Musikmeisters

The Bavarian Musikmeisters has openings from time to time and invite musicians who may be interested to send an email to us. Our instrumentation includes: piccolo, flute, clarinet, trumpet, flugelhorn, tenor horn, baritone, trombone, tuba, and percussion. There are no auditions and no annual fees. A musician need only be able to play the instrument of their choice and read music. Click on the Contact Us link and send an email. Specify your primary and secondary instruments.

We have set aside the first and third Thursdays of each month during most of the year for a band function. There will either be a performance or a rehearsal scheduled for these evenings. We expect our members to participate on these dates. Normally we do not perform during December. Performances at concerts and/or festivals do occur on other days of the week. Members periodically receive updated schedules from the president. We do have number of substitutes who are willing to help us out in case any of us has a conflict in attending a rehearsal or performance event.

All members are expected to provide their own instruments, music stands, stand lights, transportation, and appropriate Germanic apparel. There are two official uniforms. We expect new members to obtain their complete attire as soon as possible (hopefully, within 6 months) after their probation. The traditional uniform for the women's attire consists of a dirndl, white blouse, white apron, white stockings, and black shoes. The traditional uniform for the men's attire is a blue and white checked long sleeved button down shirt, lederhosen (gray, black or brown), suspenders (braces), knee length socks, black shoes, and a green felt hat usually of the Alpine type.

We present new members a band jacket after they have obtained their complete outfit. The band owns some pieces of clothing that can be used initially by new members until they have obtained their own clothing. These are on a first come, first served basis.

Upon becoming a member of our group we will provide you more information including other procedures, a copy of our Constitution and Bylaws and a roster of our members and substitutes. We will also provide you more information regarding the required clothing, costs, and where it can be purchased.

Thank you for showing an interest in our group. We are always looking for experienced musicians both as active members and substitutes. Openings occur from time to time. If you are interested, you may want to check our current schedule to help you decide whether to be an active or a substitute member.
